A small schoolhouse on the Northern Michigan landscape, reduced to what matters.

Inspired by the Drake Schoolhouse, Timeless Simplicity strips the scene to its bare essentials: the pitched roof, repeated windows, a few neighboring structures, and the long shadows settling across open ground.

Cool greys and restrained ink work give the painting a spare, almost remembered quality.

I wanted to make sure there was little here to distract from the architecture itself. Just simple forms and the quiet usefulness of a building made for its place and purpose.

Presented in a warm white matting and Gallery wood frame, Timeless Simplicity is a one-of-a-kind work from the Stoney Bend Originals collection.
