Along Boardman Avenue in Traverse City stands a house that has watched the city grow around it for more than a century.
 
Built in 1875 by William Fowle, an early Traverse City resident who came from England in 1854, the Fowle home is among the city’s older surviving houses and it remained in the Fowle family for over 100 years.
 
Summer Portico is an original ink and watercolor interpretation of this quiet piece of Traverse City history. The portico and strong lines of the house are drawn in fine ink, and I wanted the watercolor washes to give the trees and surrounding landscape the feel of a Northern Michigan Summer.
 
It is the perfect kind of place for Stoney Bend.A house built for everyday life that, simply by remaining, has become part of the story of a place.
 
Presented in a warm white matting and Heritage Oak wood frame, Summer Portico is a one-of-a-kind work from the Stoney Bend Originals collection.
