The nets are in. The docks have emptied. Evening begins to settle over Fishtown.

Nightfall at Fishtown looks toward one of Leland’s familiar fishing shanties after the movement of the day has passed. An empty boat rests along the shore, the buildings grow quiet, and the edges of the scene begin to soften into the coming night.

I chose to paint this in restrained watercolor to make the piece feel less about Fishtown as a destination and more about the place after everyone has gone. A quieter hour along the Leland River, when the old shanties, docks, and water are simply left to themselves.

Presented in a warm white matting and Heritage Oak wood frame, Nightfall at Fishtown is a one-of-a-kind work from the Stoney Bend Originals collection.
