For nearly a century, this small schoolhouse was part of the everyday life of Port Oneida.
Built around 1860, it served generations of children from the surrounding farms and homesteads—a simple building made for a simple purpose. Today, much of that life has disappeared from the landscape, but the schoolhouse remains.
Lessons Kept holds onto that quiet presence. The ink defines the familiar features like the front door, windows, roofline and small bell tower. While the restrained warm grey watercolor allows the trees and landscape around it to soften.
Presented in a warm white matting and Heritage Oak wood frame, Lessons Kept is a one-of-a-kind work from the Stoney Bend Originals collection.
