A familiar Detroit scene. An old building that continues to hold its place along one of the city’s sharp-angled streets and historic buildings.
I choose to use darker ink and washes to bring in the shadows that shape the city, while the skyline behind it recedes into pale gray.
Detroit Shadows is about that layering of the city over time. The architecture still standing in front of the faint outlines of what has changed around it. Solid forms, long shadows, and traces of the past held quietly within the present.
Presented in a warm white matting and Heritage Oak wood frame, Detroit Shadows is a one-of-a-kind work from the Stoney Bend Originals collection.
